If you hang around the craps tables long enough, you’ll hear the terms “right bettor” and “wrong bettor” thrown out a lot. Now the terms have nothing to do with how well you’re doing in the game, but rather what kind of craps bets you are making. Understanding the right and wrong bettor concept will really help you fit in at the online craps table. With that in mind, here is an explanation of what right and wrong bettors are in craps.

Basic Definition
The easiest way to explain right and wrong bettors is by looking at the common wagers you’ll see at the craps table. Bets made on the initial roll of the dice are called pass line bets; if any number other than a 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 is thrown, a point is established. Once the point is established, the shooter attempts to throw the point number again before they roll a 7. If they roll the point again, they win; if they throw a 7 first, they lose.
This is where the concept of right and wrong betting comes into play. Those who bet that the shooter will roll a point number and win are called right bettors while those who wager that the shooter will roll a 7 and lose are labeled wrong bettors. A simpler way to put all of this is the right bettors are always wagering that the shooter will win while the wrong bettors are always betting against the shooter.
Should you bet Right or Wrong?
In the spirit of winning your wager, there is really no right or wrong way to bet in craps (besides making risky prop bets of course). But the majority of players like to bet on the shooter to win – especially in land-based casinos. So if you want to join fellow players in rooting for the same bet to come through, then being a right bettor is the best idea.
